A Dream Garden For A Forever Home
Our team was asked to create an entertaining garden in North Yorkshire using sandstone walling, porcelain paving and sandstone cobbles
The Challenge: A Dream House With A Blank Sloping Garden
After down-sizing to their new dream home, one thing they did leave behind was a beautiful, matured garden, full of character and life. Being a new build, the current garden was a blank canvas with a slope leading to the back left of the garden. With beautiful surrounds, this garden was feeling plain and dull.
Our Solution
Our clients wanted a garden full of character and life. They are keen green fingered gardeners who love to sit out in the sun and relax. They love to entertain having family and friends around, so a large entertaining space was very important to them.
The clients wanted a contemporary formal clean finish but loved that rustic green garden look. Using a light toned porcelain for the main entertaining terrace meant that they could have a clean transition from the house to the garden. Part of the terrace being mainly in shade, this meant that the porcelain would be easier to clean and less prone to algae and dirt build up.
Using a beautiful sandstone for the walls, allowed us to create pockets within the garden making the clients move from one space to another. By doing this it allowed them to have specific zones for different activities whilst creating a sense of height and varying levels being an overall levelled garden.
The use of a centralised water feature and sandstone a cobbled circle, really created a focal point within the garden but also to enjoy from their main living area.
Finally, the garden was finished off with a lush green lawn and a planting scheme, which provided, structure, colour, scent and seasonal interest all year round.
The End Result
This garden really gives that immediate wow factor.
A fantastic space for enjoying large gatherings with friends or more intimate evenings with family. The large terracotta urn water feature really focalises the garden and creates a tranquil and inviting atmosphere.
Sat relaxing on the burnt-orange hardwood deck, with the sun slowly setting and hints of lavender and rosemary really creates that Mediterranean feel they were so longing for.
